Robert Cucuzza

ROBERT CUCUZZA is an LA-based theater artist and filmmaker. His work has been presented at major theaters and festivals in New York City, across the country and worldwide. He currently teaches acting at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

Deemed a "master of mayhem" by the New York Times, his writing and directing work is known for its controlled chaos, imaginative physicality, dark humor, heightened theatricality and high stakes tension. After spending sixteen years in New York producing work with his companies Hangdog Theater and ACME Acting Lab and performing with such vanguard theater companies as Elevator Repair Service and Richard Foreman's Ontological-Hysteric Theater, he has relocated to Los Angeles. His latest production, a radical staging of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, will premiere at CalArts on November 12, 2010.
