Description:
Man Oh Man Ray is an adaptation of "Investigating Sex: Surrealist
Discussions 1928-32," edited by Jose Pierre, a series of twelve exactingly
transcribed discussions held between the Surrealists on the topic of sex that
range in tenor from self-consciousness to full-blown bravado, from painful
sincerity to straight-up absurdity. The text of Man Oh Man Ray is taken
from those transcriptscut, trimmed and embellishedpunctuated by
concise, choreographed behavior, sound effects and one big, short, crazed
dance. Launching off the hyperbravado, humor and urgency implicit in the words
of these frantic souls, Man Oh Man Ray mixes sheepish innuendo with
spit-flying denouncements/denunciations, wide-eyed confessions with militant
indifference and an all too male one-upmanship with a devil-may-care irrationality.
