July 31 – August 1, 1999
At HERE Arts Center as part of the
10th Anniversary American Living Room series
New York City

A workshop production produced by
HERE, in association with Lincoln Center Theater

Written and performed by
Paul Boocock

Directed and scored by
Robert Cucuzza

Program note:
The impulse for this work-in-progress comes from the following two sentences from Luc Sante's history of the Lower East Side at the turn of the century. "They were panel houses where, once a john was safely occupied in bed, a male house employee called a "creeper" would silently push through a detachable panel in the wainscoting and make for the pockets of the pants hanging conveniently on a nearby chair. It was estimated that 100 men were taken this way each month."
